Main Responsibilities:

  • Follow and implements development strategy of the hazelnut supply chains of Ferrero in Serbia
  • Supports development of new orchards, provides support in evaluating and planning possible investments in new hazelnut orchards:
    • design and implementation of the orchard system;
    • planting operations, acquisition of plants and its distribution from the Aleksa Šantić nursery;
    • assistance during the transplant operations;
    • assists farmers in growing the new orchards during the initial stage of the early years.
  • Provides technical support to hazelnut farmers on the assigned region with technical advice in agronomic and farm management topics:
    • technical and managerial advice to the farmers through site visits, group meetings and specific training sessions;
    • assists and develop farmers with the objective to ensure a sustainable growth of the hazelnut orchards and maximise the production of the pole;
    • assists potential aggregators in developing aggregation services for associates.
  • Supports development of a monitoring system of pest and disease situation in the project area
  • Support development of territorial value chain by supporting the emergence of the local service sector and technical services of aggregators
  • Organizes and coordinates harvesting and post-harvesting season on the assigned region, and managing the operations of the external collecting point(s).
  • Supports the Head Agronomist in developing and managing database platforms and developing technical information materials

Who we are looking for:

  • University degree in agricultural education (preferable fruit growing and plant protection)
  • At least five years of experience in similar position, experience in hazel cultivation is an advantage
  • Proficient Serbian speaker
  • Active English speaker
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Active driver with valid licence
  • Ability to organize work well, propensity for field work (Srem and Mačva)
  • Experience in training, education and presentation (public speaking)
