About the Role:
We are looking for a Plant Food Safety and Quality Manager to oversee all principles and practices related to food safety and quality, ensuring optimal measures within the plant and across the supply chain. This role involves managerial reporting to the Plant Manager and professional reporting to the Group Hazelnut Food Safety & Quality Manager in Luxembourg. The position is based in Trabzon, at one of our raw hazelnut production sites.
As a Plant Food Safety and Quality Manager, you will be in charge of the local Food Safety & Quality agenda related to the raw hazelnut processing, from the souring to delivery to the Ferrero internal clients.
Your responsibilities include executing the following objectives in line with the Ferrero Food Safety & Quality System standards, ensuring compliance with all hygiene and food safety regulations. This includes implementing the necessary guidelines to manage overall quality and food safety across the supply chain—from suppliers and third-party co-manufacturers to plant production, warehousing, and transportation.
Additionally, you will take necessary measures to guarantee and monitor product and process quality and food safety, and ensure that plant personnel are properly trained on these aspects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure efficient and effective management of food safety and quality in sourcing, raw material controls, manufacturing, and third-party contract manufacturing
- Manage and develop the Food Safety & Quality Team’s resources
- Ensure the readiness and coordination of resources for all Food Safety & Quality operations across different sites (QC and inbounding of raw materials, external manufacturing sites, etc.)
- Monitor food safety and quality trends
- Facilitate the implementation, maintenance, and application of Food Safety & Quality Systems, quality certifications, and legal standards throughout the value chain (incoming, cracking, selection, packing, product release, storage) using sampling plans, audits, and company information systems
- Manage all non-compliant materials/processes (incoming materials and finished goods) and handle exceptions (derogations) and non-conformities, escalating to the Hazelnut Quality Manager as per corporate procedures
- Assist public authorities during investigations, controls, and visits. Participate in visits and inspections by internal and external (certification) authorities concerning food safety, quality, ethics, and religious requirements
- Define and support Central Audits from “on-field” activities to the development of corrective action plans.
- Interact with relevant internal clients to manage non-conformities and feedback
- Develop and implement Action Plans and related projects to achieve objectives (KPIs)
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain team on warehouse and transport management to implement objectives, framework requirements, and technical specifications
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree with a scientific background, preferably in Natural Sciences, Food Technology, or Chemical Engineering
- Preferably 8+ years of experience within the Food Safety & Quality perimeter with a good knowledge of the food processing industrial environments and extended supply chain
- Prior managerial experience with significant responsibilities
- A skilled and responsible candidate with a strong passion for quality, food safety, and food production
- Strong organizational and analysis skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and Turkish
