Sales Controller (1 year contract)
About the Role:
We are seeking a commercially minded Sales Controller to join our Finance & Control team. This role is responsible for managing and optimising trade spend investment, ensuring strong budget control, accounting accuracy, and governance across the business.
Working closely with Sales, Category, Commercial Planning and Finance teams, you will provide financial insights that support revenue management, promotional strategy, and profitable growth. You will also oversee the financial processes and systems that underpin trade spend management, with a particular focus on SAP Trade Management (SAP TM).
Main Responsibilities:
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Partner with Sales, Category and Commercial Planning teams to support revenue management target setting and business planning.
- Provide robust financial analysis, scenario modelling and insights to inform decision making.
- Support monthly business reviews, forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Contribute to S&OP planning activities, including gross-to-net and rolling forecast management.
Trade Spend Management & Financial Control
- Manage end-to-end trade spend processes, including budgeting, forecasting and month-end accruals.
- Ensure alignment between SAP TM planning and financial forecasts.
- Perform reconciliations between trade spend actuals, accruals and system balances.
- Monitor expenditure against budget, identifying risks and opportunities and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies and delegated authorities.
Revenue Management & ROI Analysis
- Partner with Sales and Category teams to assess promotional investments, trade terms and discount structures.
- Support pricing analysis, customer investment proposals and joint business planning.
- Conduct ROI assessments for key promotional activities and customer programs.
- Provide financial modelling and recommendations to support pricing, mix optimisation and margin improvement.
SAP Trade Management & Master Data Ownership
- Act as the Finance lead for SAP TM and pricing structures within SAP.
- Maintain system accuracy for budgets, claims, settlements and related financial postings.
- Support and maintain customer hierarchies and price lists to ensure pricing accuracy for invoicing and planning.
- Lead testing and validation activities for system enhancements and process improvements.
Reporting, Compliance & Audit
- Develop and maintain trade spend reporting and dashboards to support business performance.
- Review and approve claims and promotional workflows within SAP TM.
- Support compliance activities, internal controls and audit requirements.
- Partner with internal and external auditors, as well as relevant regulatory bodies, when required.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A degree qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in financial planning, controlling, commercial finance or trade spend management.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting and forecasting.
- Knowledge of internal controls, audit requirements and compliance processes.
- Commercial acumen and experience within FMCG or a similar fast-paced environment.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to influence outcomes through data-driven insights.
- Experience working with SAP, ideally SAP Trade Management (SAP TM).
