Shift Supervisor, Nutella Cafe

Reporting to the Café Management Team, the shift supervisor ensures that all staff are performing their job responsibilities and meeting all expectations in all areas of operations and customer service.  The Supervisor will manage all restaurant activity while on duty in the absence of the General or Assistant General Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leads and supervises the café staff when the General Manager or Assistant Manager are not present; tasks can include reviewing sales projections, completing walk through every hour, giving direction to the employees, ensuring all food preparation is complete
  • Ensures all staff provides an outstanding customer experience to customers.
  • Review training needs, and monitoring execution of training and development of new employees on shifts. 
  • Leads each assigned shift by delegating, assigning tasks, and following up with all team members. 
  • Maintains safety and security during shifts.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant.  Promotes a food safety environment.
  • Prepares food when necessary, ensures all food items are prepared according to Nutella’s standards of quality, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations. Investigates and resolves customer incidents, documenting if necessary.
  • Ensures compliance of all labor and employment laws.
  • Identifies back up support for both Front of House and Back of House.
  • Opens and closes the restaurant with responsibility for assisting with receiving products, monitoring prep levels, assisting with inventory and restaurant cleanliness.

The Finer Points

  • While many jobs will say they are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, you should expect to be more flexible than this. The nature of the business means that you should plan to work some weekends, evenings and holidays in addition to Monday through Friday.

What Do I Need to Have to Do This Job?

  • Cheerful and positive attitude
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of fast casual food restaurant experience as trainer or shift management
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety codes, employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to manage effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to make good judgements, decision making skills and problem solving skills with the company’s vision, values and culture
  • Ability to manage and supervise others
  • Food Safety Certification and/or Food Handler’s Card
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation (including handwashing) guidelines and procedures
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs.
  • Open availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, including moving safely through all areas of the café including but not limited to uneven and slick surfaces.
