Assistant General Manager, Nutella Cafe

The Assistant General Café Manager works under the supervision of the General Café Manager, oversees the activities and operations of restaurant employees, assists the General Manager in handling human resources-related duties, and trains newly hired employees and existing employees when new training is required.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Schedule, supervise and coordinate activities concerning all operations and personnel, including food preparation, kitchen and storeroom areas, food and beverage customer service, the cafe’s appearance, flow, and customer experience.
  • Coordinate the café inventory and audit materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in hiring, discharging, training and evaluating staff.
  • Analyze and report on budgets, including profit and loss.
  • Purchase or requisition food items, supplies or equipment.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Solid understanding of fast casual restaurant operations and restaurant management principles and practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of food and beverage codes as well as health and safety codes.
  • Proven ability to supervise team members, collaborate with and influence others, as well as make good, reasoned judgments.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Understanding of payroll systems and processes, applicable employment laws and regulations, and general knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
  • Strong organization and planning skills; proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to be an effective team member, manage stress in a fast paced environment, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with café operations equipment and tools; knowledge of budgeting, planning, inventory and accounting software.
Other Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of relevant culinary experience with fast casual restaurants.
  • At least 2 years of supervision experience in restaurant operations.
  • New York Food Safety Certification and/or Food Handler’s Card.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Open availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read, write, and operate a computer.
