Controls Engineer

About the Role:

We have a current opening for a Controls Engineer and are actively reviewing applications.

 

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, maintaining, and optimizing automation and control systems within a manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, and external vendors to support equipment reliability, process efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant. 

 

This role will report to the Head of Maintenance in our Louisville facility and will oversee the EIT hourly employees.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC based control systems supporting production and packaging equipment
•    Support startup, commissioning, and validation of new and modified equipment
•    Diagnose and resolve automation related downtime, partnering with Maintenance and Production teams
•    Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, and network documentation, standards, and best practices
•    Collaborate with OEMs, integrators, and equipment suppliers on automation solutions
•    Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and reliability
•    Provide technical guidance to electricians and maintenance personnel as needed
•    Ensuring the air conditioning for both production sites and offices. Ensuring maintenance activities in relation to any buildings.

About You:

•    4–7 years of hands on controls experience in a manufacturing environment
•    Electrical Engineering degree preferred
•    Strong experience with PLC programming 
•    Experience supporting high speed production or packaging lines preferred
•    Prior experience in food manufacturing preferred; industrial manufacturing acceptable
•    Ability to work in a fast paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment and support off shift troubleshooting when needed
