About the role:
The Region Counsel in this role will be responsible for the legal affairs of the company and providing general expert and strategic legal advice and assistance in relation to Ferrero’s operating activities in Mexico & Central America markets (the “Region”).
The position is responsible for providing strategic legal leadership, advice, planning, management and coordination of all legal, regulatory and compliance matters in the Region.
This role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, ensuring legal integrity while enabling business growth and safeguarding Ferrero’s interests.
Main Responsibilities:
The position will be involved in providing strategic and general legal advice across the Region, with significant focus on compliance and risk management, while ensuring leading innovation in law.
• Core perimeter
Oversee and manage all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters, including corporate governance, treasury and compliance, commercial/contractual issues, food and regulatory law, litigation/dispute management, trade law matters, industrial regulatory, marketing & media law, intellectual property rights protection (primarily trademark and copyright), and product liability, among others.
• Compliance Leadership
Design and deliver compliance training, monitor regulatory developments, and lead risk assessments on key topics (e.g., anti-bribery, antitrust, privacy, ESG, sanctions).
• Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Manage Region’s litigation and coordinate with external counsel. Provide proactive advice to prevent disputes and mitigate risks.
•Outside counsel management
Manage the efficient use, and supervise and oversee the selection, retention, management and evaluation of all outside counsel resources.
• Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner with leadership teams to align business objectives with legal and regulatory requirements. Develop best practices to protect Ferrero’s reputation and assets.
• Team management and career development
Managing the legal department, including developing legal talent within the organization, succession planning, providing feedback and ensuring continuous professional growth.
Who are we looking for
A strategic, business-oriented legal leader who combines deep legal expertise with strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence decision-making at the highest levels.
- Graduate attorney/lawyer – equivalent to Juris Doctor (J.D)/ Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) – from an accredited law school.
- An advance postgraduate degree and/or a Master of Laws (LL.M.). is a plus.
- Ten to fifteen years of progressive experience as in-house counsel or in a leading law firm, with a focus on advising senior management and shaping legal strategy. FMCG and legal compliance background experience is a plus.
- Seasoned legal expert with experience across the Region markets with proven international exposure.
- Ability to anticipate risks, design compliance frameworks, and align legal solutions with business objectives across multiple jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing outcomes in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Proven business acumen, leadership, and ability to operate in complex, matrix organizations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal matters into business language.
- Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills.
