R&D Laboratory Manager

About the Role:

The objective is to ensure timely and efficient execution of all laboratory tests, develop new products and improve the performance of the existing one in order to satisfy different internal needs / requirements starting from different stakeholders as Marketing briefs, Quality request, Factory support, Consumer test, Technological reasons. Ensure the sampling for sensory analysis and ensure the detection and construction of the analysis database and compile statistics. Oversees the technological evolution of new laboratory equipment and evaluates the advantages related to their use, in order to propose investments.

Main Responsibilities:

Laboratory test

  • Ensures the timely and efficient execution of all laboratory tests in accordance with the evolution of the legislation, ensuring analytical and interpretative reliability to protect the consumer. Test different raw materials, solutions, or semi finished product in the lab if positive suggest to the PTPM the change to have in the factory.
  • Proposes solutions aimed at improving product related aspects (quality, technology, sensorial, etc.). In contact with different suppliers organize different sampling and test to improve the product, provide to the PTPM possible or alternative solution.
  • Revises, in the critical phase, the types of semi-finished products of the category of competence, already used in the Company, in order to improve the organoleptic and structure of the product and possibly reduce the costs of procurement and processing
  • Ensures laboratory analysis, tests and research in projects aimed at controlling and improving products, supporting the related decision-making process. Follow the ideas comes from the Marketing and or develop new product working with the R&D department and the PTPM.
  • Ensures analysis of products developed or used by competitors, sometimes improve semi finished or finished product used by competitor in order to develop new ideas for new products.
  • Ensures the sampling required for tastings, sensory analysis, taste tests, supporting the related decision, making process, if necessary, produce in the lab., the required quantity for a consumer test
  • Ensures the detection and construction of the analysis database and compile statistics. Every single project is codified and keep in consideration the evolution of a recipe. Keep track of all the parameters to produce the recipe in the lab. Create the static plane that is the “bible” of the product where are wrote all the data necessary to produce a product in the plant
  • Support the develop of new raw material in a product prepare trials in the lab to define the real improvement with a sensory evaluation

 

Laboratory equipment evaluation

  • Oversees the technological evolution of new laboratory equipment and evaluates the advantages related to their use, in order to propose investments in this regard. In contact with suppliers try new technologies conduct trial test on the product sharing to the PTPM this new technology.
Who we are looking for:

Education

  • Post high school certificate or diploma

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

 

Knowledge / Experience

  • Experience on Pastry Lab.
  • Knowledge on SAP system
  • Sense of urgency to manage situations with ability to remain calm
  • Knowledge in problem solving
  • Knowledge in raw material
