Quality Lab Trainee (Microbiology)

About the Role:

Working in the Quality Control Lab at Ferrero Canada, the Microbiology Lab - Co-op will aid in conducting tests and inspections of raw materials, in-process and finished products to evaluate quality and safety. Ensuring that all analysis is carried out in compliance with Safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Group’s standard.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Check raw ingredients, in-process and finished products for safety and quality adhere to food standards, production specifications, safety regulations, waste management and water supply specifications.
•    Analysis following ISO 17025 on food ingredients for pathogens, bacteria, etc.
•    Basic knowledge of aseptic sampling techniques and environmental monitoring.
•    Media preparation, sample weighing and testing, environmental swabbing, as well as daily laboratory cleaning. 
•    Ensure that procedures are performed correctly and in a timely manner.
•    Guarantee that the finished products meet the quality specifications established by Ferrero.
•    Apply food science knowledge to determine the best ways to process, package, preserve, store, and distribute food.

About You:

Qualifications: 
•    Knowledge of microbiological procedures and techniques, GMPs and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). 
•    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
•    Effective use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
•    Good oral and written communication skills
