About the Role:

The Packaging Engineer specialist is responsible for lead packaging industrialization plans for Premium Chocolate brands across North America, meeting timing, cost, and quality requirements. In this role, the Specialist deploys and shares best practices within the Packaging Development team across global geographic areas. 

 

The Packaging Engineer Specialist will report professionally to the NAM Packaging Manager Premium Chocolate, Spreads, & Sugar and will work daily with several internal stakeholders: i.e., Purchasing, Production, Logistics, Quality, Group Marketing Departments, Local Documentation Unit, and Group Departments. 
 

Main Responsibilities:

Packaging Development 
•    Manages Global project implementation in the Zone/Country – in full cooperation with the Deploy Zone Manager ensuring technology solution selection, project delivery, costs, lead-time in line with central requests, company policies and expected output
•    Leads the development of local projects for the Region, delivering new structural design to meet a marketing brief
•    Identifies, proposes and leads the implementation of improvement activity, cost reduction opportunities etc. on existing projects
•    Reports to the Centre for alignment and share of best practices
•    Opens SNP for project roll-out ensuring full documentation is in place and in line with group guidelines
•    Puts in place efficient communication flows for sharing of best practices across the Regions, supporting the creation of an extended Packaging network across the Globe
•    Manages packaging industrial trials, examines and reports on outcomes in order to drive Design decisions during project development phase Ensures industrial trials are completed on time
•    Ensures development contracts/IP protection in place as required when dealing with new innovation/new suppliers
•    Contributes to the analysis of technical feasibility in the co-packer/plant of reference, CapEx definition and alternative scenario analysis
•    Examines issues and criticalities upon input from co-packer or DPT. Promotes the implementation of corrective actions where/as required for existing/new projects.
•    Supports DPU Qualification to validate new suppliers as required by sourcing
Quality and Food Safety
•    Ensure all program requirements/standards regarding quality and food safety are implemented, practiced and maintained
SAP
•    Create packaging codes in system and input all technical specifications
•    Communicate new models or changes to existing models to all necessary departments Input all technical packaging date into SAP 
•    Manage the Request for Documentation System in SAP
•    Assist with model creation
•    Data analysis
Production
•    Work with Team Leaders to ensure packs looks correct in Finished Goods
•    Monitor packaging line trials
•    Assist with packaging quality issues
•    Create/provide CAPE diagrams
Suppliers
•    Collaborate with suppliers on new product development
•    Work with Packaging suppliers to obtain samples for production trials and/or approval
•    Assist with packaging quality issues
•    Provide co-packers with necessary technical data and ensure they are following Ferrero packaging specifications
•    Identify new proposals and opportunities of packaging improvement
Marketing
•    Work with Brand Managers on new projects
•    Analyze feasibilities/pre-feasibilities for new projects
•    Provide all technical specifications regarding pack sizes/pallet information
•    Approve new artwork of new sku finished goods

Who we are looking for:

•    Bachelor’s degree is required 
•    Post secondary diploma or degree is a minimum with preference of a packaging specific field
•    Graduate of Industrial Packaging Programs is preferred 
•    Minimum 4 years of experience is required 
•    Project management skills are required
