About the Role:

Training and Development

Develop Ferrero-specific policies and training programs for Lock Out Tag Out, Aerial Work Platforms, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, Forklift (Power Walkie, Narrow Aisle, Reach Truck), Crane, etc., ensuring renewal per CSA and OHSA standards.

Support New Hire Orientation by ensuring employees are trained in site policies and procedures prior to floor access.

Create and maintain an annual Health & Safety training calendar.

Support the UGP Manager in verifying required certifications for RTOs, Supervisors, and Team Leads (e.g., Cert 1 & 2, First Aid).

Claims Management

Assist with end-to-end WSIB claim management, including correspondence with employees, doctors, and adjudicators regarding updates, cost relief, and appeals.

Return to Work

Collaborate with employees and supervisors to identify modified duties that align with medical restrictions (FAFs), ensuring early, safe return to work with zero lost time.

Monitor progression on modified duties and liaise with WSIB Return to Work Specialists and Adjudicators for duty approval.

Daily Safety Activities

Support supervisors in resolving unsafe conditions or practices.

Coordinate tools and equipment needs for safe task execution.

Provide safety-related support to all employees and line leads.

Assist with safety investigations as needed.

Joint Health and Safety Committee (Management Chair)

Ensure JHSC members are trained and empowered to fulfill duties.

Facilitate building audits and address work refusals or procedural issues (e.g., PSRs).

Guide JHSC in signing off on Pre-Start Reviews and LOTO procedures for equipment commissioning.

Incident and Hazard Investigations

Investigate serious incidents (SIF/PSIF) and analyze injury trends to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.

Support data entry for all incident reports and present findings in UGP and plant team meetings.

Health and Safety Program Evolution

Conduct compliance audits to meet legislative and Ferrero standards; track and resolve non-compliance items.

Promote continuous improvement of Health & Safety practices through training and program enhancements.

Support the ongoing review and development of SOPs, procedures, and risk documentation.

Environmental Compliance

Support implementation and adherence to the Environmental Management System, particularly in chemical storage and key process areas.

Quality and Food Safety

Ensure quality and food safety standards are implemented, maintained, and continuously improved across relevant program areas.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Level 1 and 2 Certification
•    Demonstrated knowledge of federal, provincial and local regulations (i.e., OHSA, OHSA Regulations, WSIB Policy ). 
•    Safety Culture / SIF / PSIF / HOP (preferred)
•    Post secondary education within a Health & Safety discipline 
•    Strong computer skills with Microsoft platforms (Office 365, Power Bi)
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
•    Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
•    Strong investigative, analytical, human relations and communication skills
