The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll and benefits for both hourly and salary employees.
This is a perfect role for a mid to senior level Specialist with a diverse range of experience.
This position reports to the Payroll Manager and is based in Brantford.
Main Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing
• Administration of the complete payroll process for employees in a rotating shift environment
• Experience with ADP WFN is an asset
• Process special payments
• Process new hires, employee changes and terminations/ROE’s
• Maintain accurate and current employee information
• Verify bi-weekly information is accurate
• Follow up with employees registering for pay statement, or requiring password resets
• Monitor and analyze payroll data for continuous improvement opportunities and trends
Benefits & Pension Administration
• Provide day-to-day benefits administration services
• Maintain accurate premium reporting
• Perform regular audits for employee pension contributions and voluntary deductions to savings plans
Disability Claims Administration
• Provide employees with information regarding their disability benefits
• Send paperwork to employees and follow up with them when they are off due to disability
• Provide WSIB Earnings reports to H&S as requested
About You:
3+ years of experience in a similar position
• Experience administering payroll for salary and hourly employees in a rotating shift environment
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Benefits and Pension administration
• Thorough knowledge of Canadian (federal, provincial, municipal) employment and payroll related legislation, in particular Employment Standards, CRA requirements
• Strong knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook, database management and record keeping.
• Experience with SAP would be an asset
• Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures would be an asset
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fast paced, changing environment
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, probe, analyze and problem solve complex issues
• Demonstrated prioritization, organization, time management, planning, and follow-up skills
• Strong communication skills – written and spoken
• Professional, tactful, and maintains a high degree of confidentiality

The base salary range for this position is $64,000 - 84,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This range represents the anticipated salary for this position at this time.
In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other benefits.
