About the role:
For our Engineering Automation Function, we are currently looking for a Senior Automation Engineering Specialist.
In this role, you will be responsible for the execution and management of special industrial investment projects, both in terms of budget and complexity.
You will also be involved in standardization and harmonization activities, primarily related to software, with the goal of minimizing overall complexity and enhancing governance of assets and suppliers.
Main responsibilities:
As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for software development on PLCs and SCADA systems, primarily for “Core” projects within Siemens, Rockwell, and Schneider Electric automation environments. You will define technical specifications to support design activities and provide assistance during the start-up and ramp-up phases of new systems.
A key part of your responsibilities will be monitoring the diffusion of technology across various plants and ensuring effective know-how transfer to relevant stakeholders. You will act as a technical reference throughout the entire project lifecycle, offering post-execution support through technical assistance related to machinery.
You will also coordinate and manage vendors during the execution phase, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
Additionally, you will contribute to the standardization and harmonization of software solutions. This involves close collaboration with stakeholders such as engineering colleagues, maintenance teams, and production units to define and implement software standards that accommodate the diverse technological landscapes of the company’s global factories.
Who we are looking for:
You will bring a Master’s degree in Engineering, combined with proven experience in process automation (at least 8–10 years, including PLC and SCADA systems). Your specialization in industrial automation, electronics, instrumentation, or electrotechnics will be key to your success in this role.
Your project management skills and hands-on experience will enable you to lead complex initiatives effectively. You will be available for frequent business travel (approximately 40%) and open to international mobility, supporting the global scope of our projects.
You will also bring excellent communication and active listening skills, which are essential for working across teams and with stakeholders. Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, along with a basic knowledge of Italian.
