R&D Lab Specialist - Curricular Internship
About the Role:
We are looking for a motivated student to join our Raw Materials R&D & Specifications function through a six-month curricular internship, contributing to an innovative research project focused on understanding the ageing mechanisms of hazelnuts and their impact on quality over time.
The internship will provide the opportunity to support scientific activities aimed at investigating how hazelnuts evolve during storage, identifying the main degradation phenomena and contributing to the development of predictive models. By combining laboratory work, analytical investigations, and data analysis, you will help generate insights that support the preservation of raw material quality and the advancement of Ferrero's research activities.
Working in a dynamic and international R&D environment, you will collaborate with experts across different scientific domains, gaining hands-on experience in experimental design, analytical chemistry, and statistical data interpretation.
Main Responsibilities:
In this position, you will contribute to the implementation of experimental plans and Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies aimed at investigating raw material stability and quality over time.
You will support the analytical monitoring of samples using different instrumental techniques, including gas chromatography and mass spectrometry-based approaches, helping generate reliable and meaningful experimental data.
Collecting, organizing, and analyzing experimental results will be an important part of your activities, contributing to the development and validation of predictive models through advanced statistical approaches.
You will also perform literature reviews to support experimental design and research activities, while contributing to the development and optimization of analytical methods according to project requirements.
Finally, you will assist in preparing reports and presentations, sharing results and insights with project stakeholders and collaborating teams across the organization.
About You:
You are currently pursuing a master's degree in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Science and Technology or a related scientific field and are looking for a curricular internship to complement your academic path.
Through your studies, you have developed a solid understanding of analytical chemistry principles and have gained exposure to chromatographic and spectrometric techniques, particularly gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
You are interested in experimental research and data interpretation, and you are familiar with Microsoft Office tools. Exposure to data analysis software such as R, Python, MATLAB, or similar tools would be appreciated.
Curiosity, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset allow you to approach scientific challenges with enthusiasm. You enjoy working collaboratively in international environments and are confident communicating in English.
