Automation Engineering Specialist

About the Role:

We are currently looking for an Automation Engineering Specialist for our Ferrero Automation Engineering division based in Alba (CN). In this role, you will work within the Automation Engineering Molding, Wafer, Packaging & Handling team in a global context.

Main Responsibilities:

As an Automation Engineering Specialist, you will design and develop automation solutions for machinery and production lines, working on Motion Control systems, robotics, PLC programming, HMI interfaces, sensors, and actuators. You will generate both technical and functional specifications for suppliers, taking full responsibility for the successful implementation, installation, and commissioning of machinery within your area of specialization.

You will also be involved in the internal design of “Core” machinery or automation systems, working independently or in collaboration with others, based on management requirements. As part of your responsibilities, you will supervise and maintain existing technological solutions across the Group, ensuring that historical know‑how is preserved within central engineering and that full lifecycle support of automation systems is guaranteed.

You will provide consultancy and technical support to Ferrero stakeholders outside the Process Engineering or Engineering areas, including Plant Managers and Operators. Managing and supervising external suppliers will also be a key aspect of your role, from overseeing technical activities and reviewing designs to providing on‑site support during installation and commissioning phases.

Part of your task will include contributing to the harmonization and global standardization of production assets, collecting feedback from various plants to continuously refine and improve automation guidelines. In addition, you may take on the role of Project Manager for assigned investment projects, assuming interdisciplinary leadership and ensuring effective coordination across all involved functions.

About You:

You will bring a Master’s Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering, or a related field, combined with previous experiences gained in industrial automation design. Your solid understanding of automation and process control, together with your skills in both hardware and software, will support your performance in this position. You will work confidently with motion control, robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication protocols, and you are proficient in Rockwell, Siemens, and Schneider systems.

The role requires flexibility for business travel (typically up to 40%, globally), as well as a problem‑solving mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
