R&D Group Packaging Sustainability Specialist

About the Role:
As a R&D Group Packaging Sustainability Specialist, you will be part of our R&D Group Packaging Sustainability, inside Global R&D Packaging team, where you’ll contribute to shape sustainable packaging solutions. You’ll report directly to the R&D Group Packaging Sustainability Manager.
Main Responsibilities:
As a R&D Group Packaging Sustainability Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping the future of sustainable packaging within our Global R&D Packaging team. You will contribute to shape and support our packaging sustainability strategy, supporting Areas Packaging Sustainability team in the implementation of packaging sustainability plans.
You will ensure the consistent implementation of packaging sustainability plans, facilitate the sharing of central policies and guidelines with relevant stakeholders, and provide support to R&D Area Packaging Sustainability Specialists and other internal teams to allow our commitment correctly delivered. You will monitor future global trends and retailers/consumers' needs to keep us ahead of the curve as well as supporting on key packaging sustainability topics strategy development and implementation. In this role, you will ensure proper management of sustainability information for the different needs (marketing claim, corporate communication purpose, institutional affairs requests,..). You will keep update the D4R central guidelines in coordination and with support of R&D Area Packaging Sustainability Specialists.
You will scout, coordinate and lead external collaboration. You will lead specific projects focused on recycling and waste reduction, collaborating closely with packaging and plant teams to evaluate initiatives and drive measurable impact.
You will actively participate in R&D industry working groups like innovative sorting or recycling program or associations, bringing external insights into our internal strategy. Your work will also support the Central Sustainability Team on 2030 manfesto and with Global Presidenze with accountability on claim supporting dossier.
Brands packaging sustainability support will be part of your routine, helping us stay competitive and innovative.
About You:
To thrive in this role, you bring a strong academic background with a degree in Engineering or other scientific disciplines, and most importantly, hands-on experience in sustainability and packaging. You’ve spent 3 to 5 years working in packaging sustainability teams—whether in FMCG companies, international consultancies, or recycling and waste management organizations—where you’ve developed a solid understanding of key packaging materials like plastic, glass, paper, and aluminum and sustainability related characteristics.
You’re familiar with Life Cycle Assessment studies and related software tools, with Simapro being a plus. Your approach is data-driven: you know how to interpret and manage complex topics, manage continuously evolving contex, visualize insights clearly, Proficient Excel and use of tool like PowerPoint to communicate effectively. SAP knowledge is a bonus.
Fluency in both Italian and English—spoken and written—is essential, as you’ll be working in a global environment and collaborating across teams and regions.
